Family of 5 Photo Session at A Neighborhood Park

It can feel like you should schedule your family photoshoot somewhere epic and instagrammable, but I find that place that are close by can be the best. Your favorite park down the street that your kids love to play at, can turn into a beautiful, comfortable backdrop. The familiarity of the location helping everyone to relax and be themselves in the photos.

What is it about brothers that is all things mischevious and adorable? Maybe it’s because I have three boys but when they’re together, the energy (an chaos) is off the charts, and I love it. Plus letting kids play in your family photos is so much more natural because when are kids not playing??

Walking is one of the best ways to keep everyone happy and relaxed during their photo shoot. The longer we have to hold still and be aware of a camera, the more stiff and awkward we can get. There are ways to get around this during a studio session but it is SO much to get natural beautiful photos when kids (and parents too!) are able to move around and loosen up.

Kids love the chance to snuggle mama in photos, and I love the chance to make sure she gets in the pictures. At every photo session, I take at least a few portraits of her on her own since likely she’s the one taking pictures of everyone else all the time.
